Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) called upon SLS Response to mobilize heavy equipment and heavy equipment operators after a deadly tornado struck the community of Perryton, located in the Texas Panhandle near Amarillo, on June 15, 2023. The twister destroyed homes, businesses, and churches, killing three people and leaving more than 100 with injuries. SLS assistance was needed to expand landfill capacity following the destructive storm.
 

Almost one week later, a second tornado struck the community of Matador near Lubbock. At least four people were killed and as many as 10 reported injured after the tornado touched down on June 21, 2023. TDEM called upon SLS to provide dozers to
