Project Summary

In September 2005, Hurricane Rita, the most intense tropical cyclone on record in the Gulf of Mexico, severely impacted the Texas coast. In 2008, major Hurricanes Dolly and Ike landed only weeks apart, compounding regional catastrophic damage in distressed areas along the Gulf Coast.

 
The State of Texas and HUD CDBG-DR engaged SLS to restore affected homes through rehabilitation, elevation, and reconstruction. SLS succeeded in restoring over 2,100 homes and elevating them as a precautionary act against future natural disasters.
