Project Summary
In anticipation of Hurricane Florence’s impact on the East Coast in September 2018, VDEM engaged the SLS team to provide emergency sheltering and services, mobilizing at 3 Virginia higher-education institutions.
Within 24 hours, SLS executed emergency shelter housing, including 2,064 beds at Virginia Commonwealth in Richmond, 1,461 beds at William & Mary in Williamsburg and 2,250 beds at Christopher Newport.
These provided a safe haven from the danger of Hurricane Florence to emergency responders and citizens.
